Fixing a leaky bathtub faucet - leaky faucet or any other for that matter - can be an expensive job - unless you can do it myself!
In this article we want to see on the most common reason for a leaky faucet, and show you how to fix it quickly and cheaply.
Preparation
It goes almost without saying that you should first turn off the water! Where can I find the handle, does that mean? Just look under your sink and see where the wires run.Somewhere along its length, you will see either a handle or a wheel, you can use to shut off the power grid. In almost all cases you must rotate clockwise to close.
Another preparation for the sink drain block - just a nasty accident loose with something (like a screw or a small nut) disappearing down the drain to prevent never seen. Use the plug normally use, or put some cloth into the opening. No good being wise after the event!
And - even if itOf course - make sure that a spare disk (or two) from the local hardware store - you do not have purchased, according to the search when you use the faucet in your pieces!
Action
Locate the screw that is running the faucet handle in place (it can be behind a small plate or cover to be hidden and that limits the need to familiarize yourself with a small screwdriver or similar will be reclaimed). Then the screw.
The next task is to handle theout. Do not use a screwdriver to do this - you may need to apply a little force to prize but it will come.
Now you can use the old washer (do not worry, do not want to see if we are to introduce, anyway). Remove the old washer and through the new. Note that the hole in the windshield, just a little larger than the central body that rotates the handle.
Now under control, but to tighten finger tight, rotate, that is, only until it stops, no need additional power to bebe applied.
Next, then on the water again and see what happens! If there is no leak, you're home and dry (excuse the pun!). If it still leaks, try tightening the grip a little more.
If there is always leaks after that, then the problem elsewhere and you need to get a plumber after all. But al least it was worth a try!
(And by the way - if you notice a large accumulation of lime around the handle - clean, make arrangements with a specific product away from your hardware store - it will pay you) in the long run.
Things needed
A screwdriver or two - perhaps a flathead and a Phillips or cross-screw. Two discs (maybe we'll take the old one-time prior to your visit to the store to get the right to purchase or simply just a pack of mixed slices - not buy expensive sure to be).
